How are you all doing today?

Amazing… now!

(Laughs) Tell me more!

We just had such a good experience here. I feel so awkward getting my photos taken, but needed them and you made the experience great, so thank you.

(Blushes) Glad to hear that. Y’all moved here recently. How did you guys end up in Chicago?

We moved here from Austin for a number of reasons. We wanted to be in a real city with public transit — I say “real city” meaning a place you can get food after 9pm. And we've got family close by as well, out in the suburbs.

What's your favorite thing about Chicago so far?

That's tough. There's a lot of good things.

It's hard to pick one. I love the public transit, flawed as it is, it's usable. We actually got rid of our cars when we moved here. And also the food, yeah, I had no idea what a foodie city it was.

Yeah, it's the best in the country in my biased opinion. Is there a favorite restaurant you guys have found so far?

That's a hard one.

Two that come to mine are Handlebar and Chengdu Impression. Get the crispy eggplant!

The lake!Two baseball teams!

The beaches in the summer are so nice.

You two are both into the arts. Is there a favorite artist who comes to mind?

For me, it's Charlie Harper. He's an illustrator, graphic designer, and he's done a lot of nature work. He does a lot of plants and animals and he tries to depict them with the fewest lines and shapes possible and it’s just absolutely beautiful.

I love a friend of mine, Melissa Carper. I love her songwriting;  she's a Charlie Harper of songwriting. Dead, simple lyrics to tell these huge, beautiful stories. It's really cool.

She's a classic country artist.

Have you found a favorite place to watch or listen to music in Chicago?

Empty Bottle. I love the Empty Bottle. The Green Mill. I like the Green Mill. Some of the Pritzker Park stuff in the summer is fun. I've been to shamefully few musical things, just because when you're a professional musician, it's like, well, I don't really want to go to go to work. Yeah, let's go see a comedy show instead!

So you guys are into comedy?

Yeah, we've been going to Logan Square improv a lot. It's really fun, and it's five bucks! And then Lincoln Lodge. There're such good stuff in the neighborhood that we haven't even ventured out to like Second City or anything yet.

I spend way too much time thinking about Ai. You guys are both artists; thoughts on Ai? Are we doomed or is it just gonna be another tool we use?

Yes.

Good answer!

I'm scared of it, I’ll be honest, but I think it's kind of like the early days of the internet where we don't even know what we're gonna be using it for yet. Like, it's gonna find its spot in our culture, in our world, and hopefully it won't be the end of us.

What's one thing you're looking forward to?

[We’re] planning a bike trip for April. I think that would be fun. We’re going to take the train down to St. Louis and ride the Katy Trail across all of Missouri.

Let's adventure into the unknown!

Cool, thank you very much for your time. It's been great.
